For two years running, the Texas Economic Development Council has recognized the LCEDC for its performance and professionalism Criteria used in evaluating economic development agencies includes: effectiveness in carrying out the organization’s strategic plan, relationships with agency partners and professional levels achieved by agency staff. Both years, the LCEDC has been joined by only a few similar organizations in the Greater Houston area.

America's Top-Rated Smaller Cities 2008/2009, Grey House Publications America's Top-Rated Smaller Cities 2004/2005, Grey House Publications
America's Top-Rated Smaller Cities comprises the top 110 U.S. cities under 100,000 people. Grey House factors in population growth, median income, unemployment rate and crime rate to determine the cities, and then it compiles a comprehensive report for relocation firms, research consultants and general reference. In 2008/2009, League City was one of three Greater Houston cities; the others were Sugar Land and Friendswood.
