Public Safety
League City enjoys a relatively crime-free environment. The Police Department remains successful at controlling the crime rate through innovative patrol procedures and networking with local agencies.
The current staffing level for the Police Department consists of 103 allocated police officer positions, 36 full-time civilian support personnel, and 5 part-time crossing guards. All emergency services departments in the city are linked to an Enhanced 911 emergency telephone system.
The League City Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1939, is comprised of 116 volunteers who staff a total of 8 fire trucks, 2 rescue trucks, and 8 support vehicles.
The Fire Department currently operates out of 5 stations strategically located throughout the city. Through progressive training and planning, League City boasts an ISO rating of 5.
The League City Volunteer Emergency Medical Service (EMS) has 20 volunteers and 14 paid staff. EMS provides service to the entire city, and mutual aid service to surrounding communities. EMS has 2 stations with 2 ambulances in each station. In addition, they offer CPR classes on the third Saturday of each month and car seat inspections by appointment only.
