Pre-kindergarten through high school for League City is provided by two school districts, Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) and Dickinson Independent School District (DISD). At elementary, intermediate, and high school levels, the greater League City/Houston Bay Area students score in the top 5 percent of schools located across the State of Texas and well above the national average. Both school districts are recognized within the State for their accomplishments.

League City is an education driven community with 78-80% of the high school graduates entering college. Adult education continues beyond high school with 63% of the community reporting varying levels of college education up to and including postgraduate degrees.

Clear Creek Independent School District

Clear Creek Independent School District (Clear Creek ISD) was formed in 1948 through the consolidation of the schools in League City, Seabrook, Webster, and Kemah. Currently, Clear Creek ISD serves approximately 36,000 students in 39 schools on 41 campuses.

Clear Creek ISD earned a “Recognized” status in 2006-07 from the Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings System. Clear Creek ISD is the only district of its size to receive this recognition nine times. The “Recognized” rating is the highest designation earned to date by any school district with more than 25,000 students.

Dickinson Independent School District

Located in the northern half of Galveston County, the Dickinson Independent School District serves approximately 8,100 students, who attend one of nine different campuses and are supported by a teaching and support staff of 1,000. The district's 61 square miles encompass the City of Dickinson, the unincorporated communities of Bacliff and San Leon and a portion of League City and Texas City. The needs of a diversified student population are met through a strong, well-aligned curriculum that has produced equal to or above state average results on the recent Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test at most grade levels, including recognition of one campus as a 2007 Texas “Exemplary” Campuses and three campuses as 2007 Texas “Recognized” Campuses. An $85 million dollar bond issue approved in April 2005 is nearing completion with the addition of San Leon Elementary, a new Sam Vitanza Stadium, as well as a new Barber Middle School and McAdams Junior High School currently under construction. A new $107.5 million bond issue was approved in November 2007, to continue providing additional space and updated facilities for the growing student population. The new bond projects include an additional elementary campus, substantial renovations and expansion at Dickinson High School, an Administration Building, a Transportation Facility, an Agricultural Science facility, as well as funds for land purchases and maintenance projects.

Independent Public Charter School

Bay Area Charter Schools, Inc. is the only charter district located within the Houston Bay Area. The school has 3 campuses, an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. Total enrollment is more than 300 students.

Colleges and Universities

Within 30 miles of League City there are five major universities and 24 colleges. Two of the major universities, Rice University and the University of Houston, along with nearby Texas A&M, conduct research in business and technical areas and provide a strong supply of qualified graduates. Total college enrollment in the area exceeds 200,000 students. Regional community colleges provide a high level of training, re-training, skills upgrading, and employee development for local business and industry. Cooperative training by these colleges provide customized on or off-site training at any time before, during or after working hours. Many area companies have arranged joint training programs with the colleges for company employees.

In 2003, College of the Mainland, whose primary campus is located in Texas City, opened the North County Learning Center, located off FM 518 at Parker Court in League City. This facility houses four classrooms with a capacity for 120 students. Real estate and business classes are offered at this center. In 2007, a new Allied Health Center Building was opened. THE AHC is home to the new medical assistant certificate program as well as a certified nursing assistant, EMS, and dental assistant programs.
